hundreds of people from across the world are in northern michigan this week for a special ski event. it's put on by one non-profit organization that teaches those with visual or mobile impairments how to cross country ski. allison scott shares the story of the 41-st year of "ski for light" scott mccall from atlanta, georgia has been blind since he was born. but with help from the ski for light program... he has now been skiing for more than 30 years. "well for one thing it's an opportunity for people like myself were totally blind who otherwise would probably not have an opportunity to learn to cross country ski and then to enjoy the sport of cross country skiing." more than 200 people from across the world are at shanty creek resort this week cross country skiing. about half of those people are visually or mobility

other half... are trained guides. "well scott's a really good skier. he hardly takes any guidance at all and he has very educated feet. he can follow the track with minimal input from me so it's really fun skiing with scott we have time to tell stories and you all sorts of things other than just talk about where his feet are." "i think the relationship that develops between the visually or mobility impaired skier and there sighted guide is somewhat unique in the fact that trust is almost an instant requirement because you are being guided and being given directions in an unfamiliar environment." many of the ski for light participants are regular attenders. barbara howie... who's been in a wheel chair all her life... says she comes with her husband who is blind. "you can. you can. you can. everyone can do it. we're all at different levels. you don't have to do it at a high-level you get to do it at your own level and that's a good thing about it. there's

two days from the critical vote here in iowa, hillary clinton finds herself back under the cloud of the email controversy the state department confirmed for the first time that some of the emails on her personal email server contained government information so secret, it fell under the highest level of classification. andrea mitchell has the story as hillary clinton was campaigning in iowa - the state department dropped the email bombshell: for the first time, labeling 22 emails from her private server top secret - the highest level of classification - as demanded by the intelligence agencies: "these documents were not marked classified at the time they were sent." just minutes earlier, lester had asked clinton about how the email investigation might affect her campaign: anything could happen, indictments could happen. why shouldn't people, as

question, worry about this hanging over your head as you move forward. because the facts have remained the same there was never any information sent or received that was marked classified to me for people who are watching this play out and know the republicans will come after you with an open investigation, shouldn't people have some concern? no they shouldn't lester. i just don't see it as anything that will in any way cause a voter, a voter with an open mind to have any concerns. clinton's campaign called it a bureaucratic turf battle - these emails should be released so that the public can view them. this is an example of over classification run amok. jeb bush tweeted: "we need a president who can be trusted to keep our secrets secret. obviously that's not @hillaryclinton" "this is unacceptable. this is a disqualifier" bernie sanders campaign says he stands by this: the american people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn e-mails. the state department wont be releasing these emails now, and

never, but this re ignites the email issue - just as the voters are about to have their say. clinton and her white house rivals are making their case to iowa voters this weekend. the former secretary of state has an event this morning in ames. authorities in california are still looking for two men who escaped a maximum-security prison last week. three men broke out of jail.. using a makeshift rope to jump from the roof. one of the inmates surrendered to police.. officials believe the other two, hossein nayeri -- jonathan tieu -- are still in california -- possibly traveling from san jose to fresno they could be traveling in a white 2008 g-m-c utility van. both men are armed and dangerous. facebook and instagram are telling private gun sellers to take their business elsewhere. the social networks are updating their policies to ban private gun sales on

licensed firearm retailers will still be able to post about their goods and services. but sales of guns by one person to another are not allowed. facebook -- which owns instagram -- also prohibits using either site to sell illegal drugs. the company says if it detects private gun sales, it will remove content that violates the new policy. an avalanche near mcbride, british columbia, has killed five people... the avalanche struck at 1-30 local time on friday about 470 miles from vancouver two groups of snowmobilers were involved and a search team rescued six survivors from one of the group. officials say they received a report of an avalanche event and knows it was human-triggered. water samples from more than two dozen flint, michigan homes revealed lead levels so high, they can't effectively be treated by the water filters being given to residents. officials say the approved

"there's several thresholds 5 parts per billion is one threshold that we look at for safe drinking water, 15 parts per billion is a threshold that we look at for regulatory compliance issues with water so 150 parts per billion is 10 times that level. there are those who say we cannot defeat a corrupt political system and fix a rigged economy. but i believe we need to lift our vision above the obstacles in place and look to the american horizon. to a nation where every child can not only dream of going to college, but attend one. where quality healthcare will be a birthright of every citizen. where a good job is not a wish, but a reality. where women receive equal pay and a living wage is paid to all. an america where after a lifetime of labor,

all of us have a responsibility, to ourselves, to our children, to each other. we intend to be sure that everybody in this room and every child in this state is somebody. no matter where they're born, no matter to whom they are born. our children's future is shaped both by the values of their parents and the policies of their nation. it's time to protect the next generation, fill the lives of our children with possibility and hope, open up the doors so that every child has a chance to live up to his or her god-given potential. i've spent my life fighting for children, families and our country, and i'm not stopping now.
